Kingston Council to appoint partner for the redevelopment of Cocks Crescent

Plans for the future of the Cocks Crescent site in New Malden are moving forward, after the Finance & Partnerships Committee agreed to seek a development partner to deliver the new community hub.

This stage of the project follows extensive co-design and engagement work which was undertaken with local residents and stakeholders last summer asking them to share their views on the design and plans for the site. This feedback has been fed into the draft development brief that will now be taken to the market to help identify a suitable partner.

When complete, the new development will provide improved leisure facilities, affordable homes, new community and public spaces, business opportunities and better routes for pedestrians and cyclists.

The process to identify a preferred development partner will take between six to nine months.

Councillor Liz Green, Leader of Kingston Council, said:

“This is an exciting step forward and I am so pleased that so many local people have worked with us to develop the plans and future of the site. We really value their input  and look forward to continuing to work together throughout the development to bring about positive change.

“It is important that we find the right development partner for this key opportunity in the borough, which will help us deliver the vision for the area of the borough, that will become the heart of New Malden.”
