Music groups

The KMS Youth Ensembles are meeting weekly throughout the Autumn 2020 term. Please see our Latest News to check current arrangements.

We offer a vast array of different groups to suit every style, instrument and grade.  Browse our selection of orchestras, bands and ensembles to determine which would suit you best. Then come along for a free trial session - we can’t wait to meet you! Apply online for ensembles

Groups rehearse for ten weeks per school term at our after school music centres.

We hold a concert at the end of each term and aim to provide a variety of different performance platforms each year.  All groups are open to new members regardless of whether or not you are having lessons through Kingston Music Service.

Suggested music groups

Here are our suggested music groups for you:

Percussion group - UpBeat

We are thrilled to announce the launch of UpBeat - a new percussion group for Key Stage 2 students (Years 3-6). Inspired by the hit West End show Stomp, group members will learn how to use household objects as percussion instruments, creating everything from samba rhythms on saucepans to rumba with a rolling pin and fabulous grooves on graters! With expert tuition from an experienced KMS percussion tutor, students will develop rhythm, sightreading and ensemble skills in a fun and relaxing environment. The group is led by drums and percussion tutor Tom Early.
