Kingston Young Musician of the Year competition

Kingston Music Service is launching a new competition for young performers, composers and song-writers who live in or attend a school in Royal Borough of Kingston. This year it will be open to young people in school years 7-13 and they can submit pieces in any genre: classical, pop, jazz, hip-hop, rap etc.

There are three categories:

  1. Solo instrumentalists

  2. Solo singers

  3. Composers and song-writers

There are two age groups in each category: Years 7-9 and Years 10-13. One person from each age group and each category will be chosen to go through to the finals. For further information and details on how to apply click here

Face to face lessons

All KMS Music Centres have reopened for face to face lessons, classes and rehearsals:

If there are any changes to this we will notify students and parents accordingly.

Please note that some tutors have requested that their lessons remain online over the summer and students can liaise with them accordingly. All queries regarding lesson times should be directed to tutors in the first instance.

School lessons will be face to face at the discretion of the individual school and tutor. There are an increasing number of schools across the borough that are willing for in-person lessons to return but not all of them are able to accommodate them. Please check with your school or individual tutor if you are unsure of the arrangements for this term.

Term dates

Please note that dates may be subject to change due to COVID restrictions. Check the website for updates. Please liaise with individual tutors regarding dates of online and in school lessons although these will generally fall between the term dates listed.
