The Royal Borough of Kingston is now an accredited London Living Wage Employer. The real Living Wage is higher than the government’s minimum, or National Living Wage, and is an independently calculated hourly rate of pay that is based on the actual cost of living.

Our Living Wage commitment means that everyone working at the Royal Borough of Kingston, regardless of whether they are permanent employees or third-party contractors and suppliers receive the London Living Wage.

  1. Kingston Town Centre has been designated an ‘emerging opportunity area’ by the Mayor of London.
  2. Kingston is set to benefit from ten Crossrail 2 stations if TfL’s planned investment goes ahead, the highest number in London.
  3. Kingston has received £30m ‘Mini-Holland’ funding from the Mayor of London and TfL to deliver improvements to cycling facilities and road safety, while at the same time enhancing Kingston’s public spaces.

  5. Kingston Council continues to retain ownership of its housing stock, which comprises 6,500 dwellings.
  6. The council has ambitious plans to regenerate Kingston’s Cambridge Road Estate, supported by the Mayor of London who has designated the site a ‘Housing Zone’ providing £45m of funding to enable its development.
  7. Lidl UK has received planning consent to build its UK headquarters in Tolworth.
  8. Kingston’s children services are delivered by Achieving for Children, an award-winning social enterprise company jointly set up and owned with the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The company has recently expanded to provide services for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
  9. Kingston shares its environment, IT, finance and HR services with the London Borough of Sutton.
  10. Kingston, Merton and Sutton councils have teamed up to secure £1m in government funding to help households avoid crisis and prevent people from becoming homeless, (Homelessness Prevention Trailblazers funding).
