The area known as North Kingston is situated just north of Kingston Station. It comprises a number of sites in different ownerships, including the council owned Canbury Place Car Park.
The brief has been prepared to promote development. Its aim is to provide a clear framework for the future comprehensive redevelopment of the area. This brief sets out the principles and framework to unlock the rest of the development area in a responsive, comprehensive and integrated way. The intensification of land use is also essential to ensure that sustainable development will occur on the identified sites, and in order to support the positive growth of the Town Centre. The brief sees the creation of a new residential and education led mixed use quarter that will bring about benefits to both Kingston Town Centre and the wider North Kingston area.
The North Kingston Development Brief was adopted on 13 October 2016 and is a material consideration for future planning applications.
