About the NHS health check programme

Helping you prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease

Everyone is at risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes or kidney disease. The good news is that these conditions can often be prevented, even if you have a history of them in your family.

If you are aged between 40 and 74 years and have not been diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, stroke or kidney disease and have not been offered a NHS health check within the previous five years, then you are eligible for a free NHS health check. This programme is open to anyone who lives in the Kingston borough or is registered with a Kingston GP practice.

The aim of the NHS health check programme is to:
  • identify people at risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD), such as heart disease or strokes, and ensure that they can access treatment or get referred to a suitable lifestyle programme that can help them to modify their CVD risk
