Draft Achieving for Children CYP Autism Strategy

Children and Young People's Autism Strategy Consultation

The aim of the Strategy is to ensure that all children and young people with autism have access to the best possible support and services in order to ensure an optimal start in life.

Its scope is wide, covering children and young people who have disabilities and special educational needs relating to autism from birth to 25 years old. This covers a very wide spectrum of need, from those with profound physical and learning disabilities who need specialised education and care, to others who are able to attend mainstream school and will be able to live independent lives as adults.

This Strategy is prompted in part by new national guidance, but equally by the move of Kingston's services for children and families into Achieving for Children, a new community interest company which brings together professions and organisations working with children in order to promote a more integrated and effective approach to services.

Achieving for Children are keen to hear from parents/carers of children or young people with Autism and professionals who work with children or young people with Autism.

Achieving for Children will use the information to ensure all relevant information is published in the Strategy.

The survey closed on Friday 22 August 2014.
