Residents invited to talk about the council’s priorities and finances

Lets talk

The council is holding four engagement events where residents can hear first hand from councillors about the financial pressures facing the borough as it plans the council’s budget for 2019/20. Councillors also want to listen to resident’s views about the council’s priorities.

The first event took place in December 2018 and there will be three more in January 2019. As part of the events there will be an opportunity to discuss your thoughts and share ideas with others from the local community, as well as ask the Leader of the Council, Councillor Liz Green, questions.

The events aim to involve residents more directly in the council's decision making process.

Details of the January 2019 events are:

  • Tuesday 15 January - 7pm - 9pm - Kingston College, Kingston Hall Road, KT1 2AQ
  • Thursday 17 January - 7pm - 9pm - Surbiton Library, Ewell Road, Surbiton, KT6 6AG
  • Saturday 19 January - 10:30am - 12:30pm - New Malden Methodist Church, High Street, New Malden, KT3 4BY

Leader of the Council, Cllr Liz Green, said: 

“With local government facing continued pressure to reduce budgets while striving to improve services, we want to hear from Kingston residents to understand more clearly what their priorities are so that we can ensure that council budgets deliver the best value for money and meets residents expectations.”

Whilst this round of Let’s Talk sessions are focusing on helping to shape the council’s priorities, further Let’s Talk sessions will look at a range of other topics to ensure residents can have their say on local matters that are important to them.
