Kingston Council operates a paid for garden waste subscription service. However we have ended subscriptions for this year's service (April 2019 - March 2020). For those interested in signing up to next year's service, please check back on our website in February/March. The information below provides an overview on the types of services we offer our residents.
You can subscribe to receive fortnightly garden waste collections from your house or flat. We offer a wheelie bin service, and a sacks service. The collections guide provides an overview of what can and cannot be recycled in your garden waste containers.
Subscribe for wheelie bins
For the wheelie bin subscription, we offer:
a 12 month subscription from April to March for £72 per bin, or
a 6 month subscription from October to March for £55 per bin.
You can have up to five wheelie bins for your garden waste but you need one subscription per bin. The bins are dark grey with a green lid and each bin holds 240 litres of waste.
Once you have subscribed, we will deliver your wheelie bin(s) within ten working days, and you will be able to check your collection day online.
Subscribe for sacks
If you have a small amount of garden waste to put out, or you do not have enough space for another wheelie bin, you may benefit from our biodegradable garden bags scheme.
A roll of 10, 60 litre garden waste bags which can only be purchased between April and December, and must be used up by March.
You can buy a roll of garden bags from us and then use them as and when you need them. Just place your garden bags out with your normal fortnightly bin collection. Once you have subscribed, you will be able to check your collection day online. We aim to deliver your garden waste bags within 10 working days.
The bags are biodegradable and start to break down when used and left outside. Try not to fill bags too far in advance of your collection, and store the bags in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
