My bin has been tagged

Tag on your rubbish or recycling bin

When there are issues with the presentation or contents of your rubbish or recycling bin, the crew may refuse collection and should place a tag on your bin informing you of what that issue was.

If you have received a tag, it is important you read the information provided on the tag and on the following page, and then take the necessary action to ensure collection in future.

Boundary tag

Boundary tag for rubbish and recycling wheelie bins when a missed collection takes place,

If you live in a house, or flats converted from a house, bins need to be presented as close to the edge of the property boundary as possible for collection, by 6:30am on your collection day. Where the collection crew feels they have not been, they may refuse to collect your bin, but should place a boundary tag informing you of why they have not collected your bin.

If your bin was not presented at the property boundary, you will have to wait until your next collection, or you can take your rubbish or recycling to the household reuse and recycling centre.

If you feel your tagged bin was presented as close to the property boundary as possible, please report a missed collection and a council officer will review your case.

Dry mixed recycling tag

Dry mixed recycling tag for recycling bins when recycling bin is contaminated,

If the collection crew have missed your dry mixed recycling containers, and have tagged your container with the dry mixed recycling contamination tag, it is because there are items in your container that cannot be recycled in this bin. Please refer to the recycling and rubbish guide for a list of what can and cannot be recycled in your dry mixed recycling bin.

Having reviewed the information provided, please then review the contents of your container and remove any items in there that cannot be processed for recycling.

Unfortunately if your bin is missed because of contamination, the crew will not collect your bin until your next collection, presuming all items which cannot be accepted for recycling have been removed. If you cannot wait until your next collection, you can also dispose of these items at the household reuse and recycling centre

If you feel your tagged bin was missed, and did not have any items inside which cannot be processed for recycling, please report a missed collection within two working days of your collection day, and a council officer will review your case.
