A new way of helping you find a different home
Homefinder UK is a scheme that helps Council tenants move further afield – perhaps to take a better job or to be nearer family. We have joined the scheme in order to give our tenants greater choice and more opportunity to find homes the right size, in the right location and at the right rent.
Homes are available across the UK and Homefinder UK is working to make as many properties available as possible. If you wish to move to a particular area but cannot see any properties that meet your requirements then please contact Homefinder and they will contact landlords in the area you wish to move to. If you register on the website you will also be able to see all of their mutual exchange opportunities through House Exchange who are one of the companies supporting Homefinder UK.
Support is available for people who wish to move but who are not sure of how to go about doing so. Support on offer includes financial advice, budgeting, information on the recent welfare reforms, transport links, local schools and services such as GPs. Additional support can also be given to help you look for a job.
If you require help in registering for the scheme you should contact the council’s Housing Allocations team as they should be able to help you with your registration.
Tenants should note that Homefinder UK is not run by the council but by a separate organization. You can contact them directly by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To find out more about the scheme, and to register, please visit Homefinder UK's website. If you live in a housing association property and you are not sure if they have joined Homefinder UK then you will need to contact your landlord to check if they are participating in the scheme. If you are a private tenant then you will not be eligible at the moment but this may change in the future.
