Children's events for National Libraries Day

Monkeys Galore - 10.15 to 11.15am at New Malden Library

Help celebrate the Year of the Monkey with stories followed by basic crafts. Free for children 3 to 5 years old

Chinese New Year Crafts - 11am to 12 noon at Old Malden Library

Help celebrate the Year of the Monkey by making some lovely things to take home. For children 5 to 12 years old. Booking required in advance cost £1.50

Where's Wally Day - all day at Tolworth Library

Celebrate National Libraries Day with Wally and friends! Find Wally in the library and have fun with puzzles. Free for children aged 6 to 11

Family Chatterbooks Club - 10am to 11am at Kingston Library

Come and try our monthly reading group free for young readers aged 7 to 9, with an adult

The Non-Stop Storytime Challenge! - 2pm to 4pm at Tudor Drive Library

Drop into the library between 2 to 4 pm and ask the children's librarian to read you any picture book in the library. Or stay for the whole two our non-stop storytime session. Free for children 2 to 7 years old.

Creature Creator Competition - Kingston Library

Pick up an application form from the library to enter our competition to draw your own imaginary creature. Free for children aged 8 to 12 years old

Story Writing Competition - Tudor Drive Library

Pick up an application form from the library to enter our competition to write a short story. Free for children aged 9 to 11 and young people aged 12 to 14

Peter Pan - Take your family on a trip to Neverland - 10.30am to 3.30pm at Hook and Chessington Library

Enjoy a range of Peter Pan themed creative arts activities, including musical storytelling, puppetry, arts and crafts, a Peter Pan exhibition and more. £1.50 per child for ages 3 to 11.

Stories from Around the World - 2.30 to 3.30pm at Surbiton Library

Hear stories to make you stop and wonder. No booking required, just drop in free for children aged 5 to 8

Book Chat and Coffee Morning - 10.30am to 12 noon at Surbiton Library

Freshen up your reading list. Free.

Silver Surfers - 10am to 12 noon at Hook and Chessington Library

Beginner computer training for older learners. Get started on the basics. For ages 50+, cost £3

Poetry Parade - 1pm to 2.30pm at New Malden Library

By the Merton Poets. Hear eight local poets performing informally at various points in the library. Free.

30 minute slot Tablet Session - 2pm to 4pm at Hook and Chessington Library

Booking required, £5 session. Bring along your own or use one of our tablets to become a confident user

Poetry Workshop - 11am to 12.30pm at Kingston Library

Led by Alison Hill, local poet and former libraries Poet in Residence. Booking advised. Free.

Coffee Morning and Quiz - 10.30am to 12 noon at Tudor Drive Library

Enjoy coffee and biscuits while taking on a quiz. Free.
