Library computers

Users and facilities

If you are 16 or over you don’t have to be a member of the library to use our computers and access the internet. However, if you are not a library member, on each visit you’ll need to come to the counter and show a valid form of ID such as a driving licence or utility bill. We will then issue you with a temporary card number and PIN. You will be allocated a free one hour guest slot.  Once this expires normal charging applies.

If you’re 15 or under and you’re a member of the library, you can use a computer if your parent or guardian has given us written consent. We can check this on your library record.

All libraries offer height adjustable computer desks suitable for people with disabilities.

You can use our computers for:

  • word processing
  • spreadsheets
  • presentations
  • setting up databases

For a small charge, you can also print out pages - see Printing and other charges.

You can use USB memory sticks to store information but you can’t run your own software on our computers.

Computers are installed with Microsoft Office - which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
