Kingston Council is building an 80 bed dementia nursing home on the site of the old Newent House care home in Browns Road, Surbiton, as part of long-term plans to meet the needs of an ageing population in the borough.
There are estimated to be around 1,500 residents in Kingston living with dementia and it is predicted that this number will rise to over 2,100 people by 2027.
The new state of the art home will provide high-quality nursing care to some of our most vulnerable residents and make a vital contribution to meeting the rising demand for health and care services in Kingston.
The site has now been cleared and demolition is underway. Construction work is due to begin in April 2020. The home will welcome its first residents in Autumn 2021.
