Riverside safety

Kingston River Safety Group

Under common law we have a duty of care to those visiting the Thames riverside in Kingston. A certain level of risk is acceptable and it is expected that safety measures will be applied so far as is reasonably practicable.

A considerable amount of work has been done to understand how the riverside is used by visitors, to ensure it is equipped with appropriate lifesaving equipment and to build a positive and robust relationship between businesses and landowners and the Kingston River Safety Group. The group meets quarterly and reports into the Safer Kingston Partnership (KSP).

Our River Safety Plan is subject to annual review and presented to the River Safety Group for approval.
