CirKT introduces new music acts at its official programme launch
The best of south west London’s new music talent will gather at the Fighting Cocks on Wednesday 26th June at 7pm to celebrate the official launch of CirKT, the borough and SW London’s live music project in front of industry professionals and special guest, Amy Lame, DJ, Broadcaster and London’s Night Tzar.
Supported by the Mayor of London, as part of the London Borough of Culture programme, CirKT aims to support and champion live music by testing and developing a community response to the loss of grassroots music venues.
The evening will include performances by the first tranche of new artists, cherry picked to receive mentoring and support as part of CirKT’s new talent development programme by leading music professionals including Novelist, Tom Baker (Field Day/ Eat Your Own Ears), Robin Turner (Hall and Turner PR), Mickey Beans (La Roux), Dave McClean (Django Django) and Chantelle Fiddy. The artists selected are:
- Alex Brenchley
- Brother Zulu
- Graver Ekow
- Iyatra Quartet
- Kitty Got Claws
- Time Dilation Unit
CirKT’s programme will run from August through to November and will begin with a series of intimate gigs, every two weeks in various venues across the borough, followed by a week of performances, workshops, mentoring sessions, discussions and an industry conference. Information on venues, tickets and participating musicians can be found on the dedicated CirKT website
Round Two of CirKT’s New Talent Call Out will be announced at the launch on the 26th June.
We’re looking for another 12 artists who would like the opportunity to have their music heard by stellar names of the music industry. More details on how to apply will be posted here and on the CirKT website.
