Trading standards have a range of enforcement tools and actions available to them including warnings, cautions and prosecutions depending on the facts and evidence of each individual case. However in some cases no further action is taken and the information is noted for information and intelligence only.

It is important that all complaints are referred to the Citizens Advice consumer service as they maintain a national database of complaints that provides an invaluable source of information and intelligence to the trading standards community.
