Local restrictions support grant - COVID-19

On Thursday 5 November, a new national lockdown expected to last until 2 December came into effect. The Government announced a new financial support package to support businesses through this.

Businesses required to close under the new lockdown restrictions will be able to apply for a grant of up to £3,000 for the period 5 November to 2 December. The size of the grant will be based on rateable values:

  • Properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under would receive a grant of up to £1,334  (or £667 for each 2 week qualifying period)
  • Properties with a rateable value of between £15,000 and £51,000 would receive grants for up to £2,000.(£1000 per 2 week qualifying period)
  • Properties with a rateable value over £51,000 would receive a grant of up to £3,000 (£1500 per 2 week qualifying period)

The council will also receive funding for a discretionary 'Additional Restrictions Grant' to support businesses.

You will be able to apply for these grants online through the Council website.

Please rest-assured that we will be working intensively to ensure that eligible businesses receive the funding as quickly as possible.  We are working through the detailed guidance provided by the government to allow us to implement these quickly and effectively. We anticipate that an online application form will be available for businesses later in November. There is no need to contact the council about these grants at present - please sign up to our newsletter to receive updates directly.
