Remembrance Day Services - Sunday, 11 November 2018

There will be four remembrance services taking place across Kingston on Sunday 11 November.

New Malden

The Service at the War Memorial will begin at 9.30am (traditionally this event takes place earlier than other locations). After the Service at 10.10am the Mayor will be escorted back to the Guildhall in Kingston to attend Kingston Services and to watch the March Past.

Wet weather arrangements: If the weather is particularly bad, the service at the War Memorial will be cancelled and held inside the Methodist Church instead.

Kingston

The Service at Kingston will begin with a Procession from the Guildhall at 10.37am to the War Memorial by 10.45am for the Laying of Wreaths and a Service. At approx. 11.15am* all attendees will be asked to move around to the East Surrey Gates in the Market Place where a short Rededication Ceremony will take place. After the Rededication Ceremony, the Mayoral Party will return to the Guildhall where the Remembrance Day Commemorations will be concluded with a March Past outside the Guildhall. Contingents will form up on either side of the marketplace and march past the Guildhall at approx. 11.50am to 12noon.

Wet weather arrangements: There is no alternative wet weather arrangements for the service at the War Memorial or Rededication Ceremony. A decision on whether the March Past will take place, will be taken at the end of the Rededication Ceremony, if the weather is particularly bad.

Surbiton

The Service at Surbiton will take place at the War Memorial on the Ewell Road at 10.45am and finish at approximately 11.30am. The Parade will march from the Surbiton British Legion, Hollyfield Road onto the Ewell Road, up to the War Memorial for the Service itself and then afterwards return back down the Ewell Road, past Surbiton Hill Methodist Church (where the Salute is taken) back to the Surbiton Royal British Legion on Hollyfield Road.

Wet weather arrangements: There is no alternative wet weather arrangements for this service.

Chessington

The Service at Chessington will take place at the War Memorial at the Royal British Legion HQ, Church Fields, Church Lane, at 10.45am followed by a Service at 11.15am at the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Church Lane.
