Playground improvements

As part of the Community Parks programme, we have invested £140,000 in Beverley Park, installing new play equipment and planting, as well as improving access to the playground area.

Earlier this year, we asked for your views on our draft plans. Feedback was very positive and the plans were changed to reflect the desire for more natural colours being used within the playground and more wooden equipment, as well as including a sandpit and refurbishing the zipwire.

We received several requests to keep the items of equipment for older children, this included the climbing wall, shelter and basketball hoop, we therefore decided to retain the 'teen area' of the playground. While this may look out of place for the time being, we will be repainting this and resurfacing the surrounding area in the coming months.

More information on feedback and how the plans have changed is on our engagement portal.

Friends of parks

The community groups that work in our parks make a huge difference to the quality of the spaces. They lead on all sorts of activities that make the park a better place. Some run events, some do a lot of gardening, improvements and planting, some run activities and many are involved in the future planning for the park.

If you want to get involved with Beverley Park Recreation, contact the local group Friends of Beverley Park to find out more. To find out more about other 'Friends of' parks groups in your area, or if you wish to form your own group, please visit our Get involved in your local park page.
