Kingston Cycling Annual Report
In the 2019 and 2020 editions of the Cycling in Kingston Annual Report we used 10 key objectives to monitor the Go Cycle programme and increases in cycling and walking journeys in the borough.
In 2020 and 2021 challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic have made it difficult to continue with the same approach to monitoring for various reasons including changes to residents’ commuting patterns, changes to TfL’s funding strategies and delays to construction works due to lockdowns.
Despite this, considerable progress has been made on Go Cycle projects, notably Ewell Road, the ‘Riverlink’ Bridge at Kingston Station and the Kingston Station cycle hub. A number of other sustainable transport initiatives such as trial ‘low traffic neighbourhoods’ (LTNs) and school streets have been implemented. The Council took further steps to encourage active travel during this time.
