Appeals against Penalty Notices

Why are penalty notices imposed?

We can impose a penalty on you for failing to supply information, supplying false information, or failing to notify us regarding a discount, exemption or empty homes premium; however, you can appeal our decision.

When to appeal

Initially, you should write to us to explain why you feel the Penalty Notice is incorrect. We will then review our decision and advise you accordingly.

If you are still aggrieved by our decision to impose a penalty you can then appeal direct to the independent Valuation Tribunal at:

2nd Floor
120 Leman Street
London
E1 8EU

Telephone: 0303 445 8100
Email: appeals@valuationtribunal.gov.uk

Further information

You can find more information on the Valuation Tribunals website.

You must appeal to the Valuation Tribunal within 28 days of your receipt of the Penalty Notice. It is helpful if you include a copy of the Penalty Notice with your appeal.
