Book a free furniture, textiles or small electrical collection

Donate items in good condition

We’ve partnered with local charities to offer a convenient way to donate unwanted furniture, clothes, textiles, and small electricals.

This service is available to all households, including flats, and allows you to book a free collection on a day that suits you.

Broken or damaged items

The charities will not take broken or damaged items they cannot reuse or resell (except for TRAID who will take damaged textiles and small electricals).

Take items in poor condition to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre or book a bulky waste collection

Kingston Community Furniture

Kingston Community Furniture is part of Staywell. The group collects unwanted quality furniture to be resold and reused. Their work supports local families and individuals in need and helps the environment by reducing waste.

All proceeds go towards providing care and support to the elderly and vulnerable people within the community.

They can collect furniture in good reusable condition, with no tears or stains present. Upholstered furniture will need a fire safety label attached.

Check the Kingston Community Furniture website for more information on what they can and cannot collect. Their drivers will make the final decision on whether they can take items to be reused.

TRAID

TRAID raises money for funds and resources to reduce the environmental and social impacts of clothing. They also fund international development projects to improve conditions and working practices in the textile industry.

You can donate:

  • clothes
  • shoes
  • bedsheets, towels and curtains - no duvets or pillows
  • accessories like belts, scarves, handbags and gloves
  • small electrical items like kettles, toasters, mobile phones and tablets

You can book a collection for a minimum of 1 large bag or 3 small bags of clothing. TRAID encourages residents to donate more than the minimum amount as this helps the charity to deliver a more efficient service.

Any items that are not good enough to be passed on will be recycled by TRAID. Make sure textiles are not dirty, greasy or oil-stained before donating.
