Pay to have your garden waste collected every 2 weeks.

How it works

Once you’ve signed up, we’ll collect garden waste from your address every 2 weeks for the next 12 months.

You can subscribe for up to 5 bins at one address.

What we collect

You can put in:

  • grass cuttings
  • garden or house plants
  • twigs and leaves
  • hedge trimmings
  • flowers and weeds
  • garden prunings

We cannot take

Do not put in:

  • wood products or timber
  • rubble
  • soil
  • rocks or stones
  • plant pots or any other plastic
  • food waste including vegetable peelings
  • animal bedding

Price increase from 1 April 2024

The garden waste service charge is reviewed annually and at this year's Council Budget meeting on 29 February 2024 the decision to increase the charge was approved. This will help to balance the Council's budget for 2024/25. It has been agreed that:

  • From 1 April 2024, subscribers will pay £95 for a 12-month subscription, so if your current subscription ends on 31 March 2024 or after you will pay a new price.  If you are signing up to the service for the first time, or are adding bin subscriptions to your existing service, you will pay the new price of £95 from 1st April 2024.
  • The admin and delivery fee for a new bin will increase from £15 to £18 per bin from 1st April onwards.  If you order more than 1 bin at once, the admin and delivery fee will increase from £7.50 to £9 for each additional bin.

We’ll deliver any new bins within 20 working days.

After we’ve delivered your bins, you can check your next collection day. It will be the same day as your next black rubbish and blue lid paper and cardboard collection.

The 12 months will start from that first collection.

How to use your bin

Make sure that your garden waste is:

  • out by 6.30am on the correct collection day
  • put directly into the bin and not inside any bags

Our crew will not be able to collect bins that are:

  • too heavy
  • so full their lids do not close
  • contaminated with anything other than garden waste

They will not take any extra garden waste left next to the bin.

The crew will not return for bins they cannot collect for these reasons. You’ll need to put them out again on your next collection day.

Missed collections

Use our online form to report a missed garden waste collection within 48 hours.

Replace a bin

You can request a replacement garden waste bin if yours is missing or damaged.
