Reopening Schools in Kingston

Following recent Government announcements, all Kingston primary schools are closed for most pupils. Secondary schools across Kingston have agreed a timetable for reopening.

Primary Schools

Primary schools in Kingston are closed to all pupils except vulnerable children and the children of critical workers.

Secondary Schools

Government guidance for secondary schools requires a staggered return for pupils to ensure face-to-face teaching can be delivered safely. Priority has been given to the pupils of critical workers and vulnerable children, as well as pupils in Years 11 and 13 who are preparing for exams.

Week beginning 4 January 2021

Schools are open for the children of critical workers and vulnerable children. Remote education will be prioritised for pupils in exam year groups (Y11 and Y13).

Schools will use this week to prepare their COVID-19 testing programme to ensure pupils can safely return to face-to-face learning.

Once these testing programmes have been established, some schools may immediately begin testing pupils. Priority for testing will initially be for pupils in Years 11 and 13.

Week beginning 11 January 2021

COVID-19 testing of pupils will start in all schools, initially prioritising pupils in Year 11 and 13.

Remote education will be provided for all pupils.

Week beginning 18 January 2021

Testing for all remaining pupils will continue and they will be able to resume face-to-face learning.

Special schools and alternative education provision

All pupils in all year groups will return to face-to-face learning in schools from 4 January 2021. This includes all pupils in specialist provisions in mainstream schools.
