Volunteers’ Week 2021 - Thank you Kingston!

Volunteers' Week 2021 logo

Over the last year, the people of Kingston have stepped up like never before.

Since last May, more than 1,200 residents have registered to volunteer, including an all-time monthly high of 255 registrations.

As a borough we have stood up collectively to care for our most vulnerable, and this week we want to say thank you.

This Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) we want to say thank you to volunteers all across our incredible borough.

Watch the video above to hear the experiences of just a few of the incredible volunteers from across Kingston, including from including Kingston Food Bank, Voices of Hope and the Kingston Stronger Together buddying service.

Head to Volunteering Kingston's website to read a whole host of case studies, or if you are interested in finding a volunteering opportunity yourself.

What does volunteering mean to you?

For Volunteers' Week, we asked RBK staff to sum up volunteering in one word. The results, shown in the wordcloud below, demonstrate the amazing and valued contribution of volunteers to our community and borough.

A word cloud on a purple background showing the responses of RBK staff to the question 'what does volunteering mean to you?'.

In large font it says: Sharing, helpful, inspirational and kindness. In smaller text, it says: Selfless, duty, smiley faces, accessible, confidence, community caring, teamwork, giving back, commitment.
