Opening hours

The main reception areas in all the buildings are open to visitors between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. You will be treated politely and quickly by trained staff who will be able to help you with your enquiry. A range of information leaflets are available at each reception area.

Council Tax and Housing Benefits Advice is in the Guildhall 2 building,  open from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday.

Where to find us

Our main offices are in the Guildhall Complex, High Street, Kingston. All our departments are on this site and you can visit them during office hours (9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday) when someone will be available to help you.

If you have a particular problem or need specific information, please ring the department involved and make an appointment. This will give us the chance to find the information you need, and will mean that you are not kept waiting.

The Guildhall Complex has three buildings.

Transport to the Guildhall Complex

By Bus

The Guildhall Complex is a short walk from any bus stop in Kingston Town Centre.  

Routes 218, 371, 471, 514, 515, 515A, 801, K1 & K4 stop outside in Kingston High Street.
Routes 65, 71, 281, 406, 418, 465, 671, 691, K2 & K3 stop nearby in Brook Street.
Routes 111, 216, 281, 285, 416, 451, 461, 481, 513 and X26 stop near the Bentall Centre, a short walk away through the Market Place

By Train

The Guildhall complex is 10 minutes walk from Kingston Railway Station (6 trains per hour from London Waterloo).  Follow the signs to the Market Place and you can then see the Guildhall.

Surbiton Railway Station has 10 trains per hour from London Waterloo and many links from Surrey, Hampshire, Dorset and the West of England.  It is 20-25 minutes walk to the Guildhall but there are 40 buses per hour on routes 71, 281, 406, 418, 465, 514, 515, 515A, 671, 691, K1, K2, K3 & K4, taking 5-10 minutes.  These buses leave from the bus stop outside Waitrose Surbiton.

By Cycle

Many cycle routes lead to Kingston Town Centre where there are many cycle stands including some at the entrance to Guildhall 2. A lockable cycle compound is available for staff working in the Guildhall Complex but, in the interests of security is not available for visitors. By car

If you have no alternative other than to drive to Kingston you will need to use the car parks nearby as visitors cannot park in the Guildhall Complex. There are pay and display car parks at Drapers and  Kingston Hall Road and other car parking is available in St James Road and Eden Walk.

If you are disabled, there are parking spaces set aside in the Guildhall complex for orange-badge users.

Phoning us

You can phone us between 8.45am and 5pm Monday to Friday. All the services listed in the Guide have direct lines which means you do not have to go through our main switchboard.

Your phone call should be answered within five rings and you will be given the name and department of the person taking your call. Sometimes when we are very busy you may hear a voice mail message which will ask you to leave your name, contact number and any message. If you leave a message we will contact you as soon as we can. If you cannot find a number for the service you want, call our Information Helpline on 020 8547 5757 or fax 020 8547 5073.

Out of hours emergencies
