Celebrate Thumbs up its Thursday
on July 24 at Kingston Children’s Library with puppeteer, Stephen Novy. ‘The Myth and Magic of Finn MaCool’ is free and suitable for children aged 4 upwards. Sponsored by Kingston First.
Interested in finding out what the libraries can offer you if are visually-impaired?
New Malden Library is holding a tea/coffee afternoon on Friday 11 July between 2-3pm. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate and talk to people about the different kinds of material and equipment the libraries hold that a visually-impaired person may find useful. The event is open to everybody, visually-impaired or not, so if you are interested in finding out more, then please come along. There’s no need for a ticket, just drop in between 2-3pm.This event is part of the RNIB’s Make a Noise in Libraries Fortnight.

Introducing the Playaway Player
New Malden library now has a collection of Playaway Digital Audio Books in stock. These are light and portable – like an iPod – and you listen through headphones, or can even plug them into your car or home audio system. A list of the collection titles is below. They can be borrowed on an ordinary Kingston Libraries ticket for a 3 week loan period. Ideal for listening or learning on the move, the DABS are free to borrow for a trial period until the end of July! Headphones may be purchased separately for a small charge. NewsUK now includes online access to a wide range of
magazines. All newspapers and magazines are regularly updated. See the content list in NewsUK for details of titles.

Recycle your books, DVDs, CDs and pre-recorded videos at one of our book banks and support the British Heart Foundation
Surbiton and Old Malden branches have book banks outside their buildings where you can deposit your unwanted books, DVDs, CDs or videos in whatever condition. The British Heart Foundation collect from the banks once a week and will transform your donation into much needed funds for their charity.
