Aims of Active Sports Programmes
Building on current good practice the programmes main aim is to help young people get more from their involvement in sport. All of the frameworks for the ten sports follow the same basic outline although each sport has different development requirements and each governing body has therefore tailored the framework to suit.

Stage 1 – Local Schemes
Aims to attract those young people who have already learnt the basics of the sport and now wish to take their involvement further.

Stage 2 – Club Development
Aims to provide regular coaching for 11 – 16 year olds through accredited clubs.

Stage 3 – Assessment
A continual process with coaches and teachers being aware of the different skill levels and recommending players to higher levels where appropriate.

Stage 4 – Development Squads
Those players identified at Stage 3 as having ability and talent will be selected for development squads and academies.

Active Sport in Kingston will also offer opportunities for older people to gain qualifications in order to provide coaching particularly during stages 1 and 2.
