
Kingston Arts Council is the umbrella organisation for arts societies within the borough and is responsible for overseeing a wide range of artistic activities - from the organisation of the Kingston Contemporary Open Arts Exhibition - to supporting numerous affiiliated organisations and individuals.

Kingston Arts Council received strategic status in 2006 to represent the artistic commmunity in the borough with funding secured for 3 years to establish KAC as leader and mentor for the arts.

Kingston Arts Council has a membership of approximately 55 local societies. These range from drama and theatre groups for young people to photography clubs, art clubs and choirs and orchestras. Kingston Arts Council helps to organise the annual Kingston Contemporary Open Art Exhibition which is run in collaboration with the Royal Borough of Kingston Arts Office; the Stanley Picker Gallery, Kingston University; Kingston Museum and Art Gallery; and Kingston College. This year's exhibition will run from 30 June to 21 July. Autumn 2007 will see the return of the Festival of The Voice with a varied three week programme of events.
