The Mayor Cllr Chrissie Hitchcock

Councillor Chrissie Hitchcock was elected as Mayor for the 2010/2011 municipal year at Annual Council on the evening of Wednesday 19 May 2010. This is Councillor, Chrissie Hitchcocks second term as Mayor of Kingston upon Thames, having undertaken the role in 1997/98.

Chrissie is a keen supporter of local sports and community groups and a passionate football fan.  She was elected in 1990 and has represented Grove Ward in Kingston Town Neighbourhood for the past twenty years.

In addition to providing support for community groups and activities right across the Royal Borough the Mayor throughout her year of office will be providing a special focus on Mind in Kingston and Alfriston Day Centre (Surbiton) and helping to raise funds for the Fircroft Trust and the Cairns House Project (Kaleidoscope).

The Fircroft Trust is a local and independent charity based in Kingston that helps people with mental health problems, and / or learning disabilities, to lead independent lives in our community.  They run Fircroft Day Centre based in Ditton Road, Surbiton, for people with mental health problems and also run residential homes for people with learning disabilities.

Cairns House is a 24 hour supported accommodation project based at Kaleidoscope in Kingston. It Aims to provide a safe environment for adults with mulfiple support needs that will enable them to move towards independence.

The residential services provide a maximum two year stay for men and women with mental health problems who have medium to high support needs.

The Consort

The Mayor appoints a Mayoress/Consort to support and accompany them to engagements wherever possible. This year the Mayor has decided to appoint her Husband, Mr Brian Hitchcock.
