Kingston Disabled and Older People's Forum Focus Event 5 October 2007
The second Forum event took place on 5 October 2007. Kingston Council, Kingston Hospital and Kingston Primary Care Trust gave presentations to Forum members, providing an update on their Equality Schemes and other progress made in promoting disability equality and improving access to their services. They explained how the issues raised at the June 2006 event were being addressed to improve the accessibility of services for disabled and older people.
There were group discussions on the experiences of disabled and older people of Council and health services, and a record was made of further comments on these services made by Forum members. These comments are being taken back to the three organisations for action.
At the end of the day Forum members were asked for advice on the kind of information that was most needed by disabled and older people and where and how residents would prefer to receive this information. This feedback will be fed into Infoproject, a project to improve the content, accuracy and accessibility of information needed by disabled and older Kingston residents.
