Elections for the Mayor of London and the London Assembly 2012
There will be elections for the Mayor of London and London Assembly taking place on Thursday 3 May 2012. If you are interested in applying to work at these elections then please go to the Jobs in Electoral Services page on the left hand side of the screen
Electoral Services
Electoral Services ensure that all eligible residents within the Royal Borough are given the opportunity to vote in any elections: local, parliamentary, GLA, European or referenda. We do this by compiling a Register of Electors.
There is an annual canvass to update the Register each autumn, which is then published in full on 1 December each year. Following the 2010 canvass, the Borough's electorate was 115,142.
The process of "rolling registration" takes place between December and September. This allows people to register to vote throughout the year. This process is now complete for the year, and the annual canvass will soon commence.
Electoral Services also organise and administer all elections and referenda that take place within the borough as well as assisting with any local or parliamentary boundary changes.
Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places
We have recently reviewed our polling districts and polling places. The results of this review are now available on the Polling Review 2011 page.
Registering to Vote
You can only vote in elections if your name is on the register of electors. We update the register every autumn during the annual canvass.
However, if you move house after the annual canvass, or if you are not registered for another reason, you can apply to be added throughout the year under ‘rolling registration’. Further details are available on our register to vote page (see below).
