Electoral Services
Electoral Services ensure that all eligible residents within the Royal Borough are given the opportunity to vote in any elections: local, parliamentary, GLA, European or referenda. We do this by compiling a Register of Electors. There is an annual canvass to update the Register each autumn, which is then published in full on 1 December each year. The process of "rolling registration" takes place between December and September. This allows people to register to vote throughout the year. If you have moved within the Borough or are new to the Borough you will need register to vote at your new address.
Electoral Services also organise and administer all elections that take place within the borough as well as assisting with any local or parliamentary boundary changes.
Registering to Vote
We are currently undertaking the annual canvass of electors. All properties in the borough will shortly receive a register of electors form. To ensure you remain registered or to add names, delete names or make other alterations to the register please follow the instructions enclosed with your form. The revised register will be published on Wednesday 1 December 2010.
Annual Canvass
We will be sending voter registration forms to every property in the borough at the end of August to confirm or update the details of electors currently on the register of electors. Part of this process involves a door to door canvass of those properties that have not responded to the intial forms sent out by Royal Mail. Door-to-door canvassing will take place between Thursday 14 October and Monday 8 November. If you are interested in working as a door-to-door canvasser please visit the Jobs in Electoral Services pages below to see an information pack and application form. The deadline for applications to work as a canvasser was
Noon on Monday 16 August 2010. However, you may still submit an application form if you would like your name to be added to the reserve list.
