The Standards Committee deals with complaints about the behaviour of a Member of the Council (either an elected Councillor or one of the Co-opted, Advisory or Independent Members appointed by the Council). If you have a complaint about a Member you first need to send this in writing to the Council’s Monitoring Officer. There is a leaflet and a form to help you set out your complaint . These are at the bottom of this page and are also in libraries and other Council buildings. You do not have to use the form , you can write a letter saying who the complaint is about and why you think they have not followed the Code of Conduct.

A Sub Committee of the Standards Committee will make an assessment of the complaint. The Sub Committee is 3 members 2 Councillors and an Independent member who will chair the Sub Committee. They can decide to
You will be told in writing what is happening and when the Sub Committee is meeting, although you will not be asked to attend the Sub Committee. You will then be told what the Sub Committee has decided and what steps you can take if you are not happy with the decision.
