Democratic Support deals with the operation and management of the Council’s decision making and political management processes. This includes the servicing of meetings of the Council itself, the Executive, Overview and Scrutiny, Neighbourhood Committees and other Committees, Panels and Member-level bodies. The implementation of an up-dated ethical framework for Members. Providing administrative support to the Kingston Community and Police Consultative Group and the Independent Custody Visitors.
Democratic Support also provides support and advice to the Chief Executive as required including, for example, undertaking special projects which are not of a routine nature and assisting him generally in undertaking his role. Servicing of meetings of the Council’s Corporate Development Team.
Provision and development (in consultation with the Leaders of the Party Groups as appropriate) of support services and facilities for Councillors; the administration of the Members’ Allowances Scheme; maintenance and implementation of a Training and Development Plan for all Councillors.
The section also facilitates the opening of Tenders with Executive Members or officers as appropriate.
