Corporate Assessment and Joint Area Review
The Corporate Assessment is an inspection carried out by the Audit Commission every 3 years. It forms part of the Comprehensive Performance Assessment of local councils.
Corporate Assessment themes:
- What is the Council, together with its partners, trying to achieve?
- What is the capacity of the Council, including its work with partners, to deliver what it is trying to achieve?
- What has been achieved?
Considered against the shared priorities of:
- sustainable communities and transport;
- safer and stronger communities;
- healthier communities;
- older people; and
- children and young people.
The Corporate Assessment scores each theme on a scale of 1-4 and then provides an overall scoring for the Council, also on a scale of 1-4.
The Joint Area Review of Children’s Services is conducted at the same time. As well as being scored itself it contributes to the score for the Corporate Assessment achievement theme.
