Forward Plan

The Forward Plan is a list of all decisions to be made over the next one to four months.   This includes ‘key decisions’ which the Executive, Neighbourhood Committees and officers acting under delegated powers intend to take.

What information does the Forward Plan contain?

The Plan includes a short description of the decision to be made; who will make it; when the decision will be taken; details of the planned consultation with local people and other stakeholders and partners; and contact details for further information including reports and background papers.  The Plan is updated each month.  It operates from the first working day of the month and is published fourteen days before the date it comes into force.

What is a key decision?

‘Key decisions’ are defined as those decisions:

  • that incur expenditure (or savings) of 5% or more of the net expenditure for the service area concerned, subject to a minimum cash value of £100,000 or, for capital expenditure, the limit is £200,000;
  • where the value is less than £100,000 but the decision is judged to have a significant effect on more than one electoral ward.

The Plan is in 2 separate documents

  • Decisions which will be taken by Executive and officers acting under delegated powers
  • Neighbourhood Committee decisions
