Getting Your Voice Heard

You can:

  • Attend meetings of the Executive and other Committees
  • View copies of Executive and Committee reports and minutes
  • View the Forward Plan of decisons to be taken in the next four months

Attending and Speaking at Meetings

All meetings are open to the public and usually take place at 7.30 p.m. either in the Guildhall, or in the local Neighbourhood area.

Details about dates and places of meetings are available on the Council's website and are also published in local newspapers.

Question Time

The Executive and Neighbourhood Committees have a public Question Time at the start of their meetings where residents can ask questions. Questions can be submitted in advance to Democratic Support or on the forms provided at the meeting.

Speaking about items on the agenda

Contributions from members of the public can also be made on items which appear on the Executive and Neighbourhood Committee agenda. A place is reserved for members of the public wishing to address the Executive. When their contributions are completed, they then go back to sit in the public gallery. The Neighbourhood Committees have similar arrangements for public participation.

Speaking on Planning Applications

A system of registration exists for members of the public who wish to speak on a planning application at a committee meeting.

Residents who have written to the Council in response to consultation on a planning application will receive details of how to register to speak prior to the meeting.

Access to Meeting and Decision Documents

Meeting dates and copies of all decisions, minutes and reports are available via the links at the bottom of this page. Copies are also available to view at Guildhall Reception and local libraries
