Contacts, Consultation and Feedback

Our Commitment

We provide a wide range of services to people who live in, work in or visit the borough. We want to help create the best opportunities, services and environment for the people of the borough of Kingston. We need your help to make sure we are providing the right things in the right way.

In Kingston, consulting with local people is an important part of the way we work. To fulfil our commitment to you our residents, we need to be aware what you think of council services and where you would like to see improvement. Consultation is essential in effective policy-making

Although we aim to provide the best possible service, we realise that sometimes residents want to let us know where we can do things better.

Consultation

We consult widely on many policy and operational issues. These include annual MORI surveys of local opinion about the level of council tax and budget priorities, to surveys in the last year or so about quality of life in the borough. We have organised this information into a database which provides a comprehensive picture of the view residents have of Kingston Council and the services we provide.

We also run a Residents' Panel - a group of some 1,600 local people who are regularly invited to respond to questionnaires and take part in focus groups on specific issues. Recent examples of surveys conducted include parks and open spaces, waste and recycling services and general satisfaction with Council services and level of Council tax.

Compliments and complaints

There may be times when you want to comment on a good service, or suggest how we could improve things. Sometimes things go wrong. When this happens, you may want to complain and be sure that we take your complaint seriously.

You may also want to talk to your local councillor or Member of Parliament (MP), who may comment or make the complaint for you. To find out names and contact details, call our Information Helpline on 020 8547 5757 or pick up a leaflet from Guildhall reception areas or libraries. You can also find your local councillor along with their contact details by visiting our Neighbourhood/Ward pages.
