Internet scam warning

Kingston Council Trading Standards department reminds local residents and businesses to be on their guard about "scam" communications delivered through the post or on the internet.

Kingston Council’s Chief Trading Standards Officer Ted Forsyth said; "It is worth reminding ourselves of the old saying; "If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. In the Trading Standards department we receive examples of scams being sent to local people and businesses, almost every day including those pretending to be from your bank or credit card company attempting to obtain your security details. Sometimes these include viruses such as that included in an email widely distributed over the last couple of days supposedly sent from WorldPay and headed "WorldPay Chargeback".
