Ambitious plans for Tolworth Broadway take shapeAn ambitious and innovative scheme to revitalise Tolworth Broadway has been unveiled by Kingston Council and Studio Egret West.
Phase one of the £2.1 million scheme will have three key elements:
Kingston Council is now inviting local residents and businesses to view the proposals, including artists’ impressions of the scheme, and give their feedback.
Councillor Simon James, Executive Member for Planning and Regeneration at Kingston Council, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to regenerate Tolworth and strengthen it further as an important district centre. There are a number of development proposals within the wider Tolworth area and a range of initiatives to enhance the area. It is important that the Council co-ordinates these efforts to make sure maximum benefit is achieved. This ambitious regeneration scheme for Tolworth Broadway is the centre piece and has the opportunity to give the whole area a real boost.
“I would encourage local residents and businesses to take a look at the proposals and share their views with us. The feedback we receive will play a key role in deciding how the scheme moves forward.”
Roy Thompson, Service Director for Planning and Transportation at Kingston Council, said: “Public consultations told us that local residents and businesses think that the regeneration of Tolworth Broadway is critical to the future success and prosperity of the whole area. Improved pedestrian links and a more visually striking environment were top of the wish list.
“We have been working with the designer, Studio Egret West, to use this feedback and put together the proposals that are being presented today. Residents and local businesses now have another opportunity to get involved and tell us whether these proposals represent the change they were looking for.”
