Visiting us in Person
The Revenues and Benefits Reception at Guildhall 2 is open from 9.00 to 4.30 Monday to Friday. It deals with queries regarding Housing and Council Tax Benefits, Council Tax and Business Rates.
When visiting the Benefits section, please take a ticket from the ticket machine and wait for your number to be called. Experienced staff are always on duty but there are times when the Reception is busy. Mondays and lunchtimes tend to be busier than other times. We try and keep waiting times to a minimum but if waiting is difficult for you, you can make an appointment.
If you personally hand in documents or application forms you will be given a receipt. Please read this carefully, checking for any mistakes before leaving the Reception, and keep it safe. If any further information is needed this will be mentioned on the receipt.
You do not need an appointment, but you may make one by ringing 020 8547 5198 for Benefits, 020 8547 5196 for Council Tax and 020 8547 4750 for Business Rates.
Home Visit Service
If you are housebound you can request a home visit. You will be contacted by phone or letter to say when the visiting officer will call. Before the visit please make sure that you have all the information needed. You will be told what is necessary by phone or in writing.

If you are already in receipt of Housing and Council Tax Benefit, please call the number on the top of your notification letter, which will be the direct line for the officer dealing with your claim. Please leave a message if the officer you are calling is not available.
