Benefits - Changes in Circumstances

Whilst you are getting benefit you must tell us about any changes in your circumstances which might affect your claim.  You will lose benefit if you fail to tell us of the change within one calendar month.  Overpayments resulting from a failure to notify changes of circumstances will be recovered.  You are responsible for telling us about changes in circumstances, these could include:

  • changes in your Income Support / Job Seekers Allowance
  • if your rent changes (private tenants only)
  • if you or your partner's income changes
  • if your family savings change
  • if anyone living with you has a change in their situation, for example starting work
  • if anyone moves in or out of your property

Please do not rely on the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), your landlord or employer to tell us about any changes.

To tell us about a change in circumstances or to find out if the change in circumstances will affect your benefit complete a Change of Circumstances Form or contact us (see the links below).
