Travel Awareness News and Events
- Bike Week 13 to 21 June 2009
This year,
Bike Week 2009 is encouraging everyone to 'get more out of life'- by getting on your bikes, exploring
your local community and finding out just how convenient cycling is for all those short trips we make
each day.
- The Great Chessington Bike Ride
Join
us for the Great Chessington Bike Ride which will take place in June (date tbc). This fun family ride
will explore quieter areas in the south of the borough and take you off road to enjoy a bit of green
open space. The ride will last about an hour and suitable for families with children of 8 and older.
For more details and to register, email CCST@rbk.kingston.gov.uk
- Dr Bike and Bike Maintenance Classes
Squeaky
brakes? Clunky gears? Get your bike checked out for free at our Dr. Bike in Clarence Street, Kingston
Town Centre between 11am and 3pm on Saturday 13 June.
Or better still
learn how to check out your own bike at one of our regular bike maintenance courses. In June we are
holding on in New Malden on Saturday 20 June from 9am until 1pm. Book your place via the cycle training
page below or by email CCST@rbk.kingston.gov.uk or by calling 020 8547 5865.
- Women on Wheels
Taking place on the
third Thursday and last Sunday of each month, these rides provide an opportunity
for inexperienced women cyclists to get together for a relaxed 2-3 hour social ride along off-road and
quiet road routes. Led by experienced cyclist instructors, the rides are free and include a refreshment
stop – just bring your bike and meet outside Border’s Bookshop, Market Place, Kingston at 10am on Thursday
18 and Sunday 28 June.
