There are a number of different teams within the Planning department.  They comprise Development Control, Enforcement, Building Control and Policy and Implementation (which includes Policy, Projects, Conservation, Urban Design and Climate Change and Sustainability).

Development Control

If you need planning consent, Development Control will deal with your planning application. They also deal with listed building consents and offer general planning advice.

Enforcement

Our enforcement team makes sure that developments in the Borough do not take place without the correct permission.

Building Control

Building Control ensures that building works comply with the requirements of the Building Regulations and Building Acts. You will require a building control inspection for any development in the Borough.

Policy and Implementation

Policy and Implementation has responsibility for a range of land use policies and guidance including the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) and the Local Development Framework (LDF).  The Conservation Team is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the historic built environment while the Urban Design Team seeks to ensure a high quality of urban design in all parts of the built environment.
