The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is a ‘film friendly’ borough. We recognise the important role that filming plays in the economy, at both a national and local level, and are aware of the crucial role that the Council plays in delivering front-line services to film-makers.  

We are also committed to ensuring that the benefits of filming in the borough are balanced with the need to minimise any potential disruption to residents and local businesses that location shoots can bring.

A filming policy, which received the backing of the Executive in July 2005, sets out the pledge that the Council makes to film-makers. This includes:

• Offering a one stop service to film makers
• Delivering an open and fair application process
• Creating transparency in the charges levied for filming
• Issuing of Licences to confirm approved applications

In return, we ask that film-makers:

• Co-operate with the Council by following the application process detailed below
• Inform the Communications Unit of a planned shoot within a time frame that is adequate and proportionate
• Ensure that the crew conducts itself in accordance with the Location Filming in London Normal of Practice, which is available for download from Film London.
