Journeys generated by work account for much of London's car and van use; contributing heavily to congestion and the local air quality.

Developing a travel plan can help manage the transport and travel impacts of a workplace, with the aim of reducing the number of single-occupancy car journeys (the least environmental mode of transport).
A workplace travel plan involves a package of practical measures designed to encourage your employees and visitors to travel to and from your site by sustainable modes of transport.
There are a range of benefits for your business, employees and the local community including:
The Council offers free workplace travel planning advice for businesses required to have a travel plan as a result of a planning application. A range of guidance material is available from the Council to assist you in writing your plan and we provide constructive feedback on any draft documents submitted.
Business Forums have been created for businesses to take communal action against shared transport issues, and these have extended to include waste disposal and other matters.
There are three Business Travel Plan Networks - Kingston Town Centre, Chessington and Surbiton. These areas have a dedicated liftshare website (links below) where people can register their journeys so that they can share cars and associated fuel and parking costs.
