Photograph Competition

Les Kirkin Memorial Photograph Competition

Supported by the "Friends of Kingston Museum and Heritage Service" together with Kingston Rotary, this community photographic competition honours the memory of one of Kingston's finest photographers and enriches the Royal Borough's pictorial archives.

Les Kirkin, a member of the Friends and photographer for the Museum and Local History Room for many years, died in 2001. He contributed many of his photographs to the collections as a lifelong resident of the Borough.

This annual competition is open to:

  • Adults
  • Children
  • Schools
  • Community Groups

Generous prizes include:

  • First Prize - Voucher for £200 for photographic equipment
  • Second Prize - Voucher for £100
  • Third Prize - Voucher for £50
  • Fourth Prize - Voucher for £25
  • Photographic entries will become part of Kingston's permanent Local History Collection.

2011-2012 Photography Prize Winners

We are proud to announce the winners of the Les Kirkin Photographic Competition 2011-2012.

The theme of the competition was "Enjoying Life in Kingston's Clubs and Societies"   The prize giving ceremony was held at Kingston Museum on the 19th March 2012.
