London Volunteers in Museums Awards 2010

Volunteer Awards 2010

Congratulations to all the volunteers for Kingston Museum & Heritage Service who were voted Highly Commended for Best Team Contribution at this year’s London Volunteers in Museums Awards in association with MLA Renaissance London.

Two volunteers were nominated for individual awards: Pamela Dooner was a very worthy runner up in the ‘Going the Extra Mile’ category and Margaret Kelly was a well deserved runner up in the Long Service category.

This year the ceremony was held at the Museum of London and after the official presentations, we were invited to explore the new galleries of Modern London that we strongly recommend.

Thank you for all your hard work and continued support from the all the staff.

Our volunteers play a vital role in the success of Kingston Museum and Local History Room.
These roles include:

  • stewarding the temporary exhibitions that take place in the Art Gallery,
  • supervising the reception desk,
  • assisting with special events and children's activities,
  • assisting with computerising our catalogues,
  • answering visitor enquiries and providing support for the staff

The time involved can be anything from half a day to a day on a regular or casual basis.

If you would like to join us as a volunteer please complete our online application form or telephone Sandra Murphy for more information and to check availability on 020 8547 5006.

Please note that we are currently unable to offer any further volunteer opportunities at Kingston Museum or Kingston Local History Room at this time.
